Keyboard


The keyboard is the most popular input device of a computer. Which is used to input data in the form of text and character in a computer. The keyboard was invented by Christopher Letham Scholze. The keyboard is called 'kunjipatal' in Hindi. With the help of keyboard, we can give instructions to the computer. The keyboard is mainly used for writing text, but it is also a multifunctional device that can not only write but also control the computer. The number of keys / buttons in the keyboard is 104 or more.

  • Depending on the structure of the keyboard, we can divide its key / button into several different parts:~

  1. Typing key :~ Most typing keys are used in the keyboard. The typing key is in the center of the keyboard. The typing key consists of two types of keys (the letters "A-Z", "a-z" and the numbers "0-9"). The typing key is also collectively called the alphanumeric key. It also contains symbols.

  2. Numeric keypad :~ The numeric keypad is on the right side of the keyboard. Numeric keypad are used to write numbers. It also contains navigation keys with mathematical symbols and numbers. It consists of approximately 16 to 17 keys.

  3. Function keys :~ The function key is at the top of the keyboard. This includes keys from F1 to F12. All function keys are used for different and specific tasks. The most people use the F5 key, which is used to refresh.

  4. Special purpose keys:~ The special purpose key is used to perform some special tasks. Special purpose keys include volume up, volume down, play, pause, mute, next, previous, power and print screen etc.

  5. Arrow key :~ There are four types of keys present in it. Up, down, left and right all these keys are used to move cursor in variable directions.

  6. Navigation key :~ The navigation key is used to move around in a document, file or web page, etc. It contains arrow key, insert, page up, page down, home, delete, end etc.

  7. Control key :~ The control key is used alone or with any other key to perform specific tasks. The control key includes the shift, alt, control, window, Esc, etc. keys.


Some special keys and use in the keyboard:~


  1. Tab key :~ The tab key moves the cursor from one current point to another points. It helps you to indent paragraphs and line up columns, text or numbers. In some software, the tab key helps you move from one option to another option in the menu.

  2. Caps lock :~ Caps Lock is used to type all alphabets in capital letters. Usually, the alphabet is written in lowercase on the keyboard.

  3. Shift key :~ The shift key is used to write alphabets in capital letters. Some buttons on the keyboard have two letters or symbols, so they are used to type the upper letter or symbols of the key.

  4. Ctrl & Alt key :~ The ctrl and alt keys are often used in combination with other keys to perform a specific task.

  5. Window key :~ This key is used to open the Start Menu.

  6. Space Bar :~ The Spacebar key is the largest key in the keyboard. It is used to move Cursor from one place to another.

  7. Enter key :~ This key is used to run a program or to change the line of a sentence in an application program.

  8. Backspace key :~ Backspace is used to erase text from right to left, and to erase selected text as well.

  9. Delete key :~ The Delete key is used to erase text from left to right, as well as to erase selected text. It is also used to delete files and folders.

  10. Esc (Escape) key :~ Esc key is currently used to cancel any task and exit any application.

  11. Home key :~ The Home Key is used to bring the cursor to the beginning of a sentence.

  12. End key :~ The end key is used to place the cursor at the end of a sentence.

  13. Page Up :~ Page Up Key is used to move the webpage upwards.

  14. Paged own :~ Page Up Key is used to move the webpage downwards.

  15. Menu Key :~ The Menu Key works similarly to the mouse's Right Click. It opens the options related to a selected program.
